I like your analogy of the path.

One of the differences between mindfulness or meditation and Zen lies in whether the practice is done with a specific purpose in mind. While Zen also works to regulate the mind, body, and breath, it includes the practice of setting aside such goals. As a result, one can eventually achieve a state of mindfulness continuously. (I’ll share a link to a relevant Wikipedia article as a reference.)

Additionally, I respect how you explained observing the mind without using terms like “objective observation” or “meta-cognition,” making it easier to understand.
